These buildings could not last and had won the only aspiration to regain their autonomy. Today is another goal: building a Europe which respects freedom and the identity of each of its peoples, jointly managed by applying the principle that "what can be better done together, it must be." Only the union of the peoples can Europe control the mastery of its destiny and its prestige in the world.
